Brain Teasers
Jack's Apples
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
Jack has a goal for Sunday. His goal is to eat 3 apples for the day. He wakes up Sunday morning at 7:00 A.M. and checks how many apples are in his house. He finds that he has only 2 apples. He eats them, and he stays inside his house all day. He does not even go to his yard or garage. Nor does anybody else enter his house all day. In fact, his doors and windows are closed and locked all day. Still, when he goes to bed at night, he knows that he achieved his goal of eating 3 apples that day. How is this possible?
Answer
The day officially starts at 12:00 AM (midnight), so he had at least one apple after 12:00 before going to bed the previous night.Hide Answer Show Answer
