Brain Teasers
Paranoia
Terence was a very clever detective, and had solved crimes that many private eyes more experienced than him had been stumped with. His latest task had been with a young man named James Apollo.
His neighbour had been burgled last month. James, being a very paranoid man, immediately set to work with covering his floor with talcum powder when he slept, so he could see if anyone had been in. According to James, the peace of mind was worth two hours cleaning up each morning.
The dilemma was that footprints had appeared in the talcum powder at night - but nothing had been stolen!
James said, "I had a very stressful day at work, so I couldn't sleep. I sat up in bed reading a Robert Muchamore book, but I eventually fell asleep.
I woke up, and these footprints were on the floor. But they were coming from the right side of the room, near my bed - as if the intruder had climbed through the bolted window, which always makes a massive racket! Why didn't it wake me up?"
After thinking for a while, Terence realised why the intruder hadn't woken James Apollo. He explained it to him, and James laughed.

Hint
The big clue for him was the window, which was locked and bolted. A clue for you would be the book he was reading before bed. They thought it was rather ironic after!Answer
The footprints were caused by James himself - sleepwalking! He got out of his bed near the window, and the way he walked looked like someone had climbed through the window. The ironic thing with the book, was that Robert Muchamore has a series of books called the CHERUB series, and the ninth book in the series is called "The Sleepwalker".Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer
