Tom and Sue are hosting a party. They decide that they want to show the guests a neat trick that they had thought of earlier.
Sue leaves the room and Tom draws 9 boxes on a piece of paper in a 3x3 square formation. Tom has a guest pick one of the nine boxes. Sue comes back in and Tom points to random boxes, never in the same order.
Sue gets the box correct every time, how did she do it?

Answer
Tom points to the same spot on each box, that being the spot that corresponds to the chosen box's position in the square.i.e. If the top right box were chosen then that is the spot that Tom would point to on each box when pointing out to Sue on her return. Once he actually pointed at the top right box, Sue would then proclaim that as the selected box and amazingly, be correct.
