Brain Teasers
Weighing Vegetables
Mad Ade was weighing vegetables with a pair of scales. Mad Ade noticed that the scales will balance if 1 head of cabbage and 1 lemon are on one side and 7 tomatoes are on the other. Also 3 lemons will balance with 1 ½ tomatoes. How many tomatoes did Mad Ade need to balance with 1 head of cabbage?
Answer
1 head of cabbage will balance with 6 ½ tomatoes. If 3 lemons balance with 1 ½ tomatoes, then 1 lemon is equal in weight to ½ tomato. To find out how many tomatoes balance with the cabbage, subtract the equivalent of a lemon, or half a tomato, from each side.Hide Answer Show Answer
