Hey folks, I'm still working too. Apparently construction is an essential job these days.
Here in Minnesota, 1427 positive cases, 64 deaths.
Radioguy, never would have figured you as a cheesehead.

I agree - thanks Radio.

Here in Central California, we are the leading county in confirmed cases and deaths. "Among counties in the central San Joaquin Valley, Tulare County has the highest mortality rate for COVID-19 measured as number of deaths per 100,000 residents." It is really scary out there right now and I have not left my house in weeks since I am considered high risk. We are not on an ordered complete lockdown, but do have shelter-in-place and stay-at-home orders, no gatherings at all, stay 6 feet away from others and some places require a mask to enter.

I've learned how to do my grocery shopping online with a type of "personal shopper app". Not as good as me going myself, but safer. I'm actually pleased that I figured this out and orders brought to door. For the first time ever, I've ordered a complete Easter Dinner to be picked up on Easter by hubby.

Schools are closed until further notice but it appears they will not be reopening until fall, if then, All stores are out of almost everything and are limiting how many people can go in. Some stores actually have blocked off merchandise that is not considered as essential and there are limits (usually 2) on anything bought. All restaurants are closed but you can order and pick up or have it delivered.

Stay safe everyone and take care.

SMILE and people will wonder what you are up to!

Froggygg has it made with all her Frogs to read to her and only 1 Frog to feed.

Here in the Peach State the Governor said all Schools would be Closed until Today, but the first week in April he said they would be closed until the next School Year. The Schools are already planning 'Virtual Graduation(s)" and maybe an actual Graduation in June/July?

We have 13,315 Confirmed cases, 464 Deaths and in my County 8 confirmed cases.

Like Snappy and Froggygg I am also considered High Risk. So far I have a sister down here who has been doing my shopping and getting my medicines.

As Froggygg and others have said stay safe.

Where we are, the stores are getting some things back in stock, but the TP and paper towels are still getting bought very fast

I apparently bought some TP in early March on a regular run. Costco brand - lots of rolls. Still have some left, so still in good shape.

It has been hard getting one of my kids to do her schoolwork. She's dealing with some mental health issues, too, so it's more of working around when she's feeling up to it. Thankfully my oldest is self-motivated and keeps up with stuff.

We had a guy over in Australia somewhere who bought 4800 TP rolls early on and now he's trying to on sell them to the shops. No one will buy them because they say he's a twerp hoarder...so he's stuck with them. What an idiot.

We have loads of Chinese people stock piling baby formula and selling it for inflated prices on ebay - they've had to stop now because if they're found out, the government takes it off them and gives it to Foodbank.

This sort of event brings out the worst and the best in people.
Best I've yet to see.

It's been an adventure that I hope doesn't repeat itself too soon here in Southern California. Though I hear the experts expect it will be another year before we have a vaccine for all, so expect another bout next flu season.

I'm in the middle of a big remodel job at my new home, so I am forced to go out often for parts. I wear protective stuff, but am very conscious of my surroundings. I make sure no one is coughing or sneezing by me.

I think the hardest part is living alone, not anyone to bounce thoughts off. I text my friends and family, but even that has limitations, no one wants to spend an evening pressing little keypads or talk on the phone for long... so I sit out back and look at the San Gabriel Mountains and the snow capped Mount Baldy and just think about the day I will drive up there again and enjoy a nice hike.

You all stay safe and healthy!

Hey folks, here's your update from Minnesota USA.
The state is s l o w l y opening up. Small shop owners can reopen with social distancing protocols in place. Bars and restaurants maybe by June 1st.
The infected numbers continue to grow. My job site had a positive result and within 72 hours there were 8 more cases, unfortunately I was one of them. Even with precautions my wife contracted the virus with in 2 days. We are in week two of feeling like s***. There are people feeling much worse then us but we are ready for this to be over.
How's everyone else doing?

Slowly seems to be the word. It sounds like we'll be able to have a drive-thru graduation event for my oldest. But the college she's going to in the fall has already decided to do the Fall Semester online. So that's a weird transition.

I like online learning - I'm earning a certificate through a local college and all the classes are online. It allows me to do it on my time - I get a lot done on the weekends and when my kids are still asleep in the mornings. But it's not for everyone.

RGW - you're area has been hit hard. I live near San Francisco, where we've managed to avoid the worst of it. But my sister is down in Long Beach, and I worry about her.

I feel for you jaycr! Stay strong and believe in yourself. You WILL get over this.

Down here in old Perth, we're very very lucky. Our state premier shut the borders to any foreigners and even the people from the other states of Australia. No-one is coming in. He also said he'd keep the borders shut for another month...to other Australians. We are the most isolated city in the world, I think, this is actually working for us. I think we have 1 person in ICU...that's it. And any Covid cases were all from cruise ship which docked here from other parts of the world. They would not leave!!!!
Schools have all gone back.
Some restrictions on dining out. I think only allowed 20 per restaurant.
Parks open. Some driving allowed around the state, but not too far north or east.
We are just waiting for that dreaded second wave. We are also headed into winter.

Thanks for the kind words. What started for us May 1 has finally run its course. It wasn't pleasant but we had it mild compared to the stories that make the news.
I'm back to work and my wife, well schools out so she is starting summer vacation.

Snappy you mentioned heading into winter. I wonder how this would have played out if it hit the US in October. A lot of people seem to "self quarantine" when it gets cold out, especially the northern states.
That's all for now, everyone be safe and smart.

We've had no new Covid in the last 7 days. No-one in hospital is being treated for Covid.
Our border to the rest of Australia is still shut. Many people complaining because they want to travel.
Winter is the flu season so I guess people think they may get sick then immune system is down might get Covid.????

So it's July... and the virus is still going strong. Things still aren't too bad here. Patients from LA are being transported up here for care because we have plenty of room.

I think Donald Trump is missing something. Just think of how many 2020 election masks he could be selling to his supporters. You know, "Make America Healthy Again" masks. It's an untapped market.

I get why people don't like masks and don't like being told what to do. But every time there's been a big gathering, Covid seems to be there... waiting. I can handle wearing a mask in a store and standing several feet away from other people (I don't like being in a crowded area or line anyway.) And yeah, it gets hot and sweaty - I can't imagine what it's like in warmer parts of the country. But I'd rather do that then get a respiratory disease - I had bad asthma as a teenager, and feeling like you can't get enough air is the worst.

I think I'm rambling a bit. It's been a really weird few months. I can't wait to go back to work in mid-August... even though it will mean masks and social distancing. But vacation next week - we're heading out of town to visit relatives, and thankfully they are in a low-Covid area.

People in the Eastern states of Australia jumped on the band wagon of BLM and went out into the streets to protest and get about with the mob mentality. No self distancing...just going about saying its their right yadda yadda yadda. That has had a huge impact on their Covid numbers. Victoria has had 420 something cases today! That's huge when you consider that back in May/June they had lowly numbers like 5 or 6 per day. People just disregard the dangers - they say, oh its just the flu. They don't realize that when it says you 'recover' from Covid, it doesn't mean you get back to what you were like before. It means you didn't die!!!

Our State is still closed to the rest of Australia. The rest of the country carry on about that. They reckon we should open our borders to them. Our Premier has given all West Australians the ultimatum - if you're not back in this state by Sunday, we're not letting you back in. You have to stay where you are.

Unfortunately he has allowed a football game to go ahead. It had 22,000 spectators, again, they had to self distance - it was a stadium with 60,000 seats - but many didn't. So we'll wait to see if we get any Covid cases from that little crowd. Stay tuned.

My school friends (as I'm in 11th) are missing me. So we decided to do the meetings using our online classes app, Teams. Then, one of my friends joined braingle. They said it was fun. Then I was just searching when I joined it too. I haven't watched the news these days, but here, in England is lockdown. Stay safe other brainglers.

Sometimes my friends will come over and we hang out outside socially distanced, though that's getting harder as the weather gets colder.

My wiki trail is now public! :D
